I bought this 8 track in 1972 and would fall to sleep listening to it . Still my favorite album of all time to this day 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I came to this version before the original. And after growing to really dig this, hearing the original - let me down. This version is powerful as a stick of dynamite. Many lines are crisper and just plain better performed. The brilliance of the work is the vision and songwriting. It isnt the guitar playing of Townsend.

This seriously was a movie in music. I mean I was like 13 when it came out and it was like reading a book, like Total drama as I was listening to the story about this dumb and blind boy.

It's too bad people don't recognize more what an absolutely stunning album this is. The who graduated to an entire new level so quickly on this album, certainly comparable to the Beatles and Pink Floyd as far as creativity goes. Pete Townshend of course pure genius

So much power - although this is the most unlucky CD for me... Lost my original vinyl copy when we moved. Got a CD to replace it - left that in my car when it went back to the hire company never to be seen again so I have now just ordered it yet again... I’m retired now so perhaps I will be a bit more lucky as the best CD I have ever owned (and lost).😃😃😃

Merry Clayton does a fantastic job singing in the role of the Acid Queen. The only downside is that the orchestra totally drowns her out and it lacks that rock n roll essence of song that The Who originally captured on their original version. But overall Merry Clayton brings more of a soulful gritty vocal on this rendition.

Cool. I have my "Tommy" head on at the moment so this is a good reminder from the past. However, it wasn't released in 1969, it was 1971 as it was given to me for xmas that year.

This was the first version I heard on a budget cassette from Meijer. I had to pull out of the garage to listen to it to the end because I was blown away. That was the start of my Who fandom. Now I have all the principal recordings and other Who albums besides.

A brilliant album! In my view the music on here is superior to that of the movie. Maggie Bell, Sandy Denny and Richie Havens are exceptional.

I prefer the overture done by the Assembled Multitude.
